Catholic Education Convention Call for AbstractsApplication to Present a Seminar at the Convention

The 2027 New Zealand Catholic Education Convention will bring together over 850 delegates—educators, principals, school trustees, proprietors, bishops, priests and a range of representatives of our national Catholic education system.

Convention seminars give presenters a chance to mix with professionals and educationalists in a stimulating environment. Seminars are 1 hour 10 minutes long, with the final 15 minutes set aside for question and answers. Presenters will have access to a full suite of audio and visual technology.

The call for seminar abstracts portal will open soon on the Convention website and close on 30 November 2026. We will make a further announcement once the call for abstracts is live on the Convention website.
We will contact applicants to confirm whether their application was successful by the end of business on 29 January 2027.

We are looking for 15 high quality and engaging seminars that match the theme of the Convention, Educating in Hope: Forming Resilient Disciples in a Change of Era or themes relevant to New Zealand Catholic education today.

The Convention seminars will be under four streams:

  • Catholic school board governance
  • Catholic special character (x2)
  • Religious Education and the wider curriculum
  • The Church today

The National Catholic Education Convention planning committee will make the final decision on acceptance of abstracts.
